Butajira - July 02, 2025 (NIPN/EPHI) - A three-day training workshop organized by the National Information Platform for Nutrition-Ethiopia (NIPN-Ethiopia) was launched here yesterday in the presence of over 30 researchers and nutrition experts from the Central Ethiopia Regional Public Health Institute (CERPHI) and various health sectors in the Region.
Welcoming participants, NIPN-Ethiopia Coordinator, Dr. Aregash Samuel said that NIPN is always ready to share expertise and experiences with partners and colleagues. “We have shown this during our first consultative meeting held in Worabe town of the Central Ethiopia Region in the presence of the top leadership team from the Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI). As NIPN-Ethiopia and its host EPHI pledged then to support the region continuously, we have been committed to launching this special capacity-building workshop.
Dr. Aregash stated that the training workshop would provide a platform for discussion among the researchers. “It is our belief that all participants implement what they get from this invaluable training,” she said, adding that the training workshop would be interactive and every participant would contribute a role in achieving this.
Opening the training workshop, Deputy Director General of the CERPHI, Mr. Legesse Petros, said that the training is a major support to what has already been accomplished by CERPHI in the health sector in general and the nutrition initiative in particular.
“We have given training on data synthesis. We are doing our level best in transforming technology, among other activities. What EPHI and NIPN are doing for us is a great asset to our efforts,” Legesse said.
On the first day of the training workshop, a team from NIPN-Ethiopia and the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) offered training and briefings on the general activities of NIPN, rapid evidence review, policy briefs, an overview of STATA, including nutrition information communication and dissemination.
Over 30 researchers from different CERPHI duty stations participated in the first day of the capacity- building workshop held at Bright Hotel in Butajira Town, 130 kilometers from the capital, Addis Ababa. (NIPN/EPHI)
