Nutrition, Environmental Health, and Non-Communicable Diseases Research Directorate of EPHI Conducting Annual Plan Review Meeting

Adama-July 17, 2025 – (EPHI/NIPN) - The Nutrition, Environmental Health, and Non-Communicable Diseases Research Directorate (Nutrition) at the Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) is currently reviewing its annual performances for the just concluding Ethiopian Fiscal Year (EFY).

Opening the annual review meeting where the entire staff of the directorate participated, Deputy Director General (DDG) of EPHI, Dr. Getachew Tollera, said that the Nutrition Directorate is one of the most essential platforms of EPHI. “Accomplishing over 30 research publications is not a simple task. These were realized through multiples ups and downs. The challenge is multifaceted. There are researchers, data collectors, drivers, human resource personnel, and others who paid an invaluable price for the outcome. There are even some colleagues who fell sick during the research process,” Dr. Getachew said.

The DDG further said that the price paid by the researchers is not only for the EPHI but also for the nation as a whole. “We as EPHI leadership valued the dedication made and the price paid in this way,” Dr. Getachew said, adding that the EPHI leadership is ready or makes efforts to tackle the challenges the directorate has faced in the course of its annual plan execution.

Earlier, Director of the Nutrition Directorate Dr. Masresha Tessema said that his directorate has accomplished remarkable achievements during the plan execution period. “The Directorate was enabled to publish over 30 manuscripts and obtained several grants. “Our achievements would not have been realized if there had not been close support from the EPHI leadership,” Dr. Masresha said.

Performance reports by various divisions, team heads, and project representatives will be presented later on today and the next day. The meeting is also expected to discuss and adopt the annual plan for the coming 2018 EFY.

Over 55 employees, including invited guests from Good Food Fellowship and other Directorates of EPHI, are participating in the annual review meeting being held at Robi Hotel, Adama Town.

The communication section of the NIPN-Ethiopia will come up with the latest news updates on the event. (EPHI/NIPN)
