ADDIS ABABA – July 25, 2025 (NIPN) - A four-day training workshop organized by the National Information Platform for Nutrition (NIPN-Ethiopia) on Power BI was concluded here yesterday.
NIPN-Ethiopia Coordinator Dr. Aregash Samuel said in an exclusive interview with NIPN-Ethiopia Communications Officer that senior researchers, health professionals, IT and data experts from the Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI), Tigray Health and Research Institute, and Mekele and Adigrat Universities participated in the training workshop.
“This training and workshop was offered by an experienced computer engineering expert, Dr. Addisalem Genta, assistant professor at Addis Ababa Science and Technology University, in collaboration with NIPN-Ethiopia, EPHI, and Tigray Health and Research Institute. NIPN-Ethiopia planned to organize the training workshop earlier in Mekele Town, but due to a tight schedule, we were forced to postpone it several times. The Power BI is a very important data instrument. Partners from academia and the health sector repeatedly expressed interest in getting training on it. There are still many researchers and IT experts from EPHI and other sub-national/ regions who are asking for the chance to receive training on it. Moreover, the training workshop should be given before the end of this concluding budget year. That’s why we were determined to offer the Power BI training this time in Addis Ababa,” Dr. Aregash stated.
NIPN-Ethiopia coordinator further noted that the training workshop was offered to the researchers and health experts following repeated requests from partners in the Tigray Region. “Besides, as NIPN-Ethiopia pursues need-based activities, we are duty-bound to serve our partners,” she said.
She also expressed hope that the trainees would benefit greatly from this important training and workshop.
The training workshop held at the National Training Center of EPHI brought together over 28 senior researchers, health professionals, data and IT experts drawn from EPHI, the Tigray health sector, and academia. (NIPN-Ethiopia)
