Food and Nutrition Strategy, Baseline Survey Data collection to start in the 3rd quarter of 2021

Body

The Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) is planning to conduct a baseline survey for the Food and Nutrition Strategy (FNS) this year. The NIPN team has been involved in these preparations and will also support finalizing of data collection instruments, training of data collectors, and data collection. This survey is an enormous endeavor for the country as it brings together three separate surveys, namely: the micronutrient survey, the food consumption survey, and coverage of nutrition-sensitive and specific interventions. Data collection will start in the third quarter of the year (after the general elections) and it is anticipated that the first results will be available three to six months thereafter.

For more information about the FNS baseline survey, please consult the NIPN newsletter here. Alternatively, please contact Dr. Masresha Tessema, the Acting Director of the Food Science and Nutrition Research Directorate
