ADDIS ABABA – October 15, 2024 (EPHI/NIPN) - A two-day Workshop of the Monitoring, Evaluation and Research Steering Committee (MER-SC) organized by the Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) in collaboration with the National Information Platforms for Nutrition (NIPN-Ethiopia) kicked off here today at the National Training Center of EPHI. Opening the workshop, Dr. Masresha Tessema, Director of the Nutrition, Environmental Health, and Non-Communicable Disease Research Directorate (NEHNCDRD) with EPHI, said that the MER-SC workshop aims to create favourable environment for participants to share their experiences and the challenges they have faced. “We need the progress of all sectoral offices and we also need each of you to reflect the challenges you have been facing,” Dr. Masresha stated. This is how we learn from one another, according to him. Coordinator of NIPN-Ethiopia, Dr. Aregash Samuel, said that the MER-SC workshop organized by EPHI on quarterly basis helps all sectoral offices to exchange updates. This should be seen as a favourable platform to enhance coordination among the multi-sectoral offices. Thirty-four participants drawn from various ministerial offices, sub-national health bureaus, public health, research and academic institutes, EPHI, including NIPN-Ethiopia are expected to discuss the quarterly performances of all sectoral offices.
